How's it going?
Today I'd like to mention this one particular organisation who is helping change the lives of a lot of kids and young peole in a very unique way.
"Skateistan has emerged as Afghanistan’s first skateboarding school, and is dedicated to teaching both male and female students. It aims to build indoor and outdoor skateboarding facilities in which youth can come together to skateboard: here, they forge bonds that transcend social barriers. Here, they’re enabled to affect change on issues that are important to them"
This organisation is not about learning to read english or teach math, its about allowing kids to be kids in some of the most rough places on earth. They often need new volunteers with different backgrounds and it isn't a requirement that you can skate. Maybe you know how to build a ramp or you can help out organizing a fundraiser? Also, they have a really sweet Online Shop where you can buy the coolest merchandise and at the same time support a really, really great cause: http://skateistan.org/content/skateistan-shop and we have christmas coming up closer and closer, maybe someone could use the insanely cute Skateistan Afghan Scarf, I know I could. :-)
Take care, have a great Friday.
My interests besides photography include; Nature, surfing, marine biology & conservation, reading, all things & activities ocean related and travelling all over this incredible planet.
